At the Kindred Table...

Matcha Noodles with Ahi Tuna Poke and Sake made the menu.
I adore this pretty little dish.

As much as I love travelling I really miss my Fitz while I am away. This guy came back from camp  squeaky clean, totally exhausted and absolutely adorable.

Friends in Philly...

Nothing says LOVE like a couple of friends who are willing to travel to Philadelphia to see a dance concert. Aim, Pen, and I took in all sorts of sights before meeting up with Emma at Temple. She performed beautifully in a serious work before we treated her to a delicious dinner in the city.
A fun week-end all around!

Food for my Valentine...

During our first chat Leif told me his favorite meal was meatloaf, mashed potatoes and corn. I worried he had spent too much time in cafeterias, but 23 years later this is our food of love.

Rock the House 2018...

We Rocked the House once again this year to raise funds for the SoR scholarship fund and the OPRHC and we added a special speakeasy twist to the event. For an added donation quests could enter the speakeasy for a mixed drink and food pairing experience. My bestie, Aim, tricked out the space and I provided the food pairings for a duo of super fun cocktails.

Porchetta Style Roulade with Apple Butter, Pickled Squash, Sage Soil. Pumpernickel Crumble, Marigold and Hibiscus. Folks enjoyed this bad boy this with a rosemary old fashioned in the Speakeasy!

Another dish to pair with a Ginger Collins in the speakeasy: Matcha noodles, ahi tuna poke, cucumber, dragon fruit, mango, coconut, orchid, yuzu tobiko and tangerine lace.
And of course a boatload of tenny-tiny cheesecake jars.

Cassoulet at Home...

Our annual cassoulet dinner is one of my favorite nights of the year. I spend days making the cassoulet and baking bread, Leif sources the French wines and beers, and friends bring the salad and dessert. I make the dining room as pretty as possible and we all settle in for a dreamy French-country inspired meal. Delicious in every way.

Close to Home...

A Note from the Filmmaker

The production of this film was a true team effort. The film came to life because of Melissa Elsmo, Vice President of The Day Nursery Board. When someone as giving as Melissa asks for a favor, the first this you say is, "of course," and the second thing you ask is, "what is the favor?"

She was a key teacher in my own early childhood education, so it was beyond fitting to pay it forward to The Day Nursery.

I am also grateful for my hardworking and loving wife, Katie Dunn, who helped on every shoot, edit and revision.

And thank you to the countless other volunteers who transcribed interviews, carried equipment, and helped when our car broke down (thanks, Leif!). My hope is this short film does justice to the magic of The Day Nursery: its essential services, devoted staff, grateful families, and beautiful history.

With Gratitude,

I have never been quite this proud of a collaborative project before. There are no words to express my gratitude for Molly and Cape Creative to help tell this important story. This evening we premiered the film to a room full of guests. It was an honor to play a small part in making the film and an honor to present it publicly for the first time.

Setting the Stage...

I've been hard at work over the last year working with Cape Creative (and my favorite Molly) to gift a special film to The Day Nursery. Needless to say the project is close to completion and we are gearing up for our premier event at The Nineteenth Century Club in a couple of weeks. Very exciting things are on the horizon!
