Gilmore Girls Viewing Party...

Saying I have been trying to control my excitement over the revival of Gilmore Girls is a huge understatement. Emma has been feeling exactly the same way! After-all we've watched the full seven seasons no less five times and practically know every word of the entire show.  And the chance to revisit Star's Hollow called for a full on celebration!

We consumed over 60 cups of coffee, coffee coffee with our oxygen.  We sipped from the fun flasks and had some of Emily Gilmore's white wine. We noshed on all things Gilmore: Pop Tarts, Mallomars, Red Vines, Pancakes (with a side of pancakes), Donuts, Marshmallows, Tater Tots, Chinese Take-Out, Pizza and even Richard Gilmore's infamous Johnny Machete Casserole.

The prize for best party visual ailds have to go to these two beauties who channeled the Gilmore Girls perfectly as they dressed as Rory and Lorelai on Rory's first day at Chilton. I supplied the cornstarch (I got kissed and shoplifted) and pop-tart. I mean check this split screen out...
Pretty crazy, right?
"Miss Patty's School of Ballet: Fingers in the air not in the nose"
We took in all 6 hours of the Gilmore Girls revival and I must say it was an emotional roller coaster! As a long time fan of the show I can honestly say the last four words of the final episode were shocking, but after some thought I've decided they really were pretty perfect. It really was an epic way to spend a day!

Leftover Day...

Our annual tradition of doing nothing but eating leftovers and watching movies with friends on the day after Thanksgiving continued in grand fashion this year. We watched FIVE movies back-to-back (The Swiss Family Robinson, Big Hero Six, The Blues Brothers, The Goonies, and Chef) before turning in just before 1 am! It really is the best way to spend a day.

Tae Kwon Do Tournament...

With Leif and Emma enjoying themselves in Philly, Finn and I took an opportunity to see my brother's sons participate in a Tae Kwon Do tournament; they have been studying at Chay's Tae Kwon Do for quite a while now.  Both my parents and Amy's parents joined in the fun; these boys had the best cheering section! I always marvel at my nephews generally, but it was a total joy to see them in this unique setting.  Both Finn and I learned a whole bunch about Tae Kwon Do and loved how the sport impacts every aspect of life.  The boys participated in board breaking, forms and sparring. I am proud to say Charlie and Henry each won firsts in each category and qualified for the Ultimate Grand Champion round! It was exciting to see their hard work pay off in such a bold way. My brother is going to have to build a trophy room in his house if this keeps up!

Father-Daughter Philly Date...

Leif had a board meeting in NYC and used it as a perfect excuse to pop in on Emma in Philadelphia!  He outfitted her with some Cubs swag and these two enjoyed a lovely Greek dinner at Opa-the restaurant where Emma works. I miss this girl like mad, but it made me incredibly happy to see these two hanging out in her new city!
