Rhyme & Dine @ The Day Nursery...

Housed in a Charles E. White tutor home built in 1926, TheDay Nursery has been focused on nurturing young minds through quality pre-school education programs for more than 100 years.  Over the past year alone, The Day Nursery staff has prepared more than 62, 000 nutritious meals and snacks for the children enrolled in the programs offered by this historic not-for-profit organization; each of these meals is served in the tutor’s inviting and cozy dining room.
As you can see, this family-style approach to dining has been an essential part of the educational process at The Day Nursery for decades and this week-end the Day Nursery Board of Directors opened their historic dining room to the public for a duo of creative pop up dinners for the very first time.  Here is a glimpse of the very successful Rhyme & Dine fundraising event we hosted this week-end for sixty supportive guests...

Has come to town
With a yellow petticoat
And a pretty green gown
What are little boys made of?
Snips and snails, and puppy dogs tails
That's what little boys are made of !
What are little girls made of?
Sugar and spice and all things nice
That's what little girls are made of!
Jack be nimble,
Jack be quick,
Jack jump over
The candlestick.

I loved having such a happy army of volunteers helping to decorate, wash dishes, serve and workhe line. I was immensely proud to bring the Day Nursrey to life after dark and hope we can do it again in the future!  Our board sure has a lot to be proud of these days.

Easter Sunday Salmon...

This pretty piece of poached salmon with cucumber scales made the perfect addition to our Easter feast.  I served it with a little caper relish and some honey mustard.  Happy spring!

Easter Sunday Dinner...

We were lucky enough to be invited to share Easter dinner with our neighbors this year!  Patty planned a lovely egg hunt for her grand-daughters and our kids, she cooked up traditional ham dinner and we all played several rounds of  left, right, center,  It was a totally relaxing way to spend the holiday and we are lucky to have such generous folks in our life.

Kavi's Annaprushan...

Just a couple of years ago our family was privileged to attend Vikas' Annaprushan and today we were invited to witness his brother Kavi's transition from milk to payesh, a sweet rice dish.  The environment was festive and highlighted by Vikas' notable comfort  being a big brother and Kavi's near constant smiles!

With family and friends  in attendance, Kavi enjoyed his very first bits of rice and a dash of sweet potatoes before selecting the talisman for his life's journey from a platter of various symbolic objects.

After Kavi confidently snatched up the pen Leif provided from the platter, he endured loving blessings from his family members before his big brother took over the rice eating.  It should be noted that Vikas also selected Leif's talisman (a compass) at his Annaprushan.

I happily stole more than a few cuddles with the man of the hour and feel truly grateful to have such incredible friends and gorgeous traditions in our life.
