Courtesy of my Guests...

I just love it when dinner guests share pretty pictures of my dishes.
Thanks to Molly M for capturing this image of a brand new dish: scallop with cauliflower 2-ways, bacon, grapefruit, and celery in a golden raisin-almond butter.
Thanks to Tee S for snapping this pretty shot of a perennial favorite: beets and donuts with nasturtium leaves, nut puree, Gruyere and blueberry-balsamic.
These ladies sure make me look good at what I do!

Happy Birthday Finn!

Fifteen years ago today Finn entered our lives and we have been madly in love with him ever since his arrival.  It is hard to believe this gushy bundle of baby grew into this handsome young man, but I am happy to report Finn has not lost his happy-go-lucky nature. He remains quick to smile and laugh at himself and others.  More importantly, Finn has a new found maturity and focus at 15. He is rapidly  growing into an honorable man who is trustworthy, dedicated and charming.  We are completely thrilled with with the person he is becoming and proud of his burgeoning work ethic, leadership skills and devotion school and family.  He is one amazing young man.
Happy Birthday Finn!
Our lives are forever better for having met you 15 years ago.

Pre-Show Dinner...

With Emma performing this evening I was delighted to discover so many folks wanted to catch the show!  I threw together a quick dinner and made sure our supportive friends had a full belly and a little wine before the show.  It was a special meal and a memorable evening!

Memories of a young dancer...

I know it has become unpopular to tell parents of young children that time flies by and you should enjoy every minute of the precious  time you have with your kids, but man-o-man it is hard for me not to feel how fleeting parts of this parenting gig really are these days. My little dancer is a heartbeat away from selecting a college and tonight she performs her senior solo in public for the first time.  Performing a solo at her studio is a well earned rite of passage and one that Emma takes quite seriously  She marched in the door at the Academy of Movement and Music when she was just three years old and now, nearly 15 years later, I cannot believe it is already her turn to take this bow of sorts.  I am just saying time really does fly by; I cannot wait to see where she lands next!

Birthday Boy!

"This is your first Birthday
A very special one
A nice kind of day
For treats and lots of fun.
From the time you get up
Till you go Nighty-night
Hope your first Birthday
Is a special delight."

Admission to Boyer College of Music and Dance at Temple University is a huge accomplishment for any young dancer. We are proud to say our girl earned her way into every college dance program she auditioned for this year and that means she has a pretty big decision to make.  She is considering four schools in four different states, but I can safely say she has likely narrowed her options by at least 50%. We'll have to wait at little longer to "officially" announce if she will be heading to the Keystone State, Buckeye State, Hawkeye State or Wolverine State in the fall.  These are very exciting times!
