Field Trip Cocktails: Pasture Raised

Yesterday our crew met up at Haymarket Brewery before boarding a school bus to head out with Field Trip Cocktails to enjoy their Pasture Raised event.  The location of these sorts of events is kept secret until you've arrived so we sat back and enjoyed a granola snack and Coors beer on the bus while we waited for our mystery location to be revealed.  Before long our trio of buses pulled up to Barrington Natural Farms.
(Pardon this picture heavy post, but this was quite an extraordinary outing!)

With bugspray applied and braids secure, we divided into groups to nibble and sip our way through a tour of the farm.  We sampled homemade ricotta with  pickled huckleberries and savored a blueberry mint smash cocktail while learning about bee keeping and companion planting...

We hung out with hogs while slugging back a refreshing Letherbee gin drink and eating a delightful chili spiked watermelon and pulled pork salad...

From there we hiked out to the cattle pastures where were were gifted a little brisket with pickled mustard greens and bone marrow butter with a sweet strawberry cocktail...

We met the chickens, ate a few and washed them down with a hibiscus beertail from Revolution Brewing...

And then we played with goats...

...before sitting down for a an honest to goodness farm to table cook-out!

Amy even celebrated her birthday on the farm.

In classic form our day on the farm finished up with a host of desserts and roaring bonfire while talented singer-songwriter, Pat McKillen, performed a couple of sets in the open air.

Thanks for incredible day, Field Trip Cocktails.
We loved all the  laughter, beauty, learning and culinary delights!

it looks all great...the mingling with the livestock prior is a little creepy, but you know me....my meat is made at the jewel not from real animals. Thats my story and Im still sticking to it
