Futsal Foot Work...

Have I mentioned how much fun it is to watch Finn play this face paced game?

Comfort Food...

After the week we had it seemed only fitting to fill our week-end with cozy foods and warming conversations.  There is nothing like the healing power of beef stew and freshly baked bread in my book and enjoying this hearty winter meal at the family table was good for both body and soul.

Our Java Girl...

“Don’t cry because it’s over, Smile because it happened.” - Dr. Seuss
2001-2014

Best of Friends...

 ...from beginning to end.

It is shocking to think this beautiful creature shared her life with us for more than thirteen years.  Both Emma and Finn cannot recall a day without her being a vital part of their lives.
Our Java Love will be missed more than words can say.
There will never be another dog like her.

Hubbard Huddle...

Emma auditioned for Hubbard Street's summer intensive  last week-end.  While the audition was literally packed to the gills with hopeful dancers looking to earn a slot for four weeks of rigorous training with one of the foremost modern dance companies in the world, Emma easily found some of her favorite folks from her experience in Iowa last summer. I would just love to look this comfortable and nonchalant going into a two hour audition wouldn't you? Seriously, they made a 50% cut at the midway point of the audition. Um...yikes. My girl didn't seemed phased by it all in the slightest. Honestly, I think seeing these band of beautiful girls meant almost as much to Emma as learning she'd been offered a spot in Hubbard Street's summer intensive again this year!  We are just so proud of her and love that she is learning that hard work really does pay off!

I know it shouldn't be a big deal, but I am totally digging my new haircut.

City Rat...

Emma recently snapped this picture of Finn while they were roaming around Chicago.
I love everything about this shot and the fact they enjoy spending so much time together!

We Rocked the House...

The Rock the House event featuring five chefs and six local brewers and benefiting The Oak Park Regional Housing Center and School of Rock was filled with positive community juju!  I was lucky enough to be matched up with proficient home-brewer and all around remarkable guy, Rick Boultinghouse, to create an unexpected, but successful food and beer pairing for more than 100 local revelers.  Thanks to Leif, Amy and Rachel I was able to churn out a boat load of pretty little tastings...

In addition to offering up copious amounts of beer and little culinary delights each lucky guest recieved a customized tasting glass and a pretzel neclace for easy snacking.  How cute is that?

My friends Rich Klevgard and Ron Martin were also responsible for serving up a duo of memorable dishes.  I loved Rich's smokey brisket and Ron's sophisticated pork mole on sweet potato.

I love an evening where friends can be found on both sides of a serving table...

As Leif said the entire evening was so much fun it felt like quasi-volunteering and we could not have imagined a more perfect way to celebrate our anniversary!

6, 205 Days Later...

We are still full of love for each other...even if Leif did call me Patrice Evra after I kicked him in the shins for snoring too loudly right in my face this morning.  We have our own brand of affection around here after 17 years into this marriage gig.
Love. My. Life.
