Community Harvest

This morning I had the pleasure of participating in the final harvest at the Irving Community Garden. I have enjoyed a treat from this garden before and today the fifth graders were in charge of pulling up potatoes, squash, and carrots. Everyone seemed thrilled to see how fruitful the garden really was and I have accepted the task of making and serving a community garden soup next week along with another parent chef. We are planning to turn this bountiful harvest into eleven gallons of vegetable soup! I think this garden is an incredibly special part of our school!

As someone who was fortunate to have a tasting of some of the harvested carrots...I can honestly say I'm thankful for the incredible garden at Irving because my meal was delicious!
