Ink Supervisor

After treating me to a lovely lunch at Zen Noodle in Wicker Park, my friend Jill headed over to Tatu Tattoo to treat herself to a little new ink. I was there to provide distraction and I guess I succeeded because Jill commented after she was finished, "If you have to bring someone someplace just to keep talking so you can just listen you are like the perfect person to bring."
I just think when someone is getting poked with a needle over and over again you can't expect them to be too chatty!
Jill's new tat is lovely on it's own, but her artist has been working on American Idol Crystal Bowersox's large sunflower tattoo for the past year...how about that for a celebrity connection!
I can't wait for Jill to start showing off her ink and I was thrilled to join her today!
The whole experience has me wanting to take a turn in the chair...

Melissa Elsmo, tatted up roller derby queen. What's next... human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together... mass hysteria?!

Funny man, John Richards, the truth is I have been inked for years and skate only intermittently now because I panicked when they started pace lines and contact...I offer myself up as a metaphorical human sacrifice every day and decided doing so weekly on the roller rink was too literal for me! My dogs and cat have been living happily (a little too happily) together for years and as for the mass hysteria...have you met me? I love being a bundle of contradictions!
