Times Change...

I was reading through the Huff Post this morning and had a good chuckle over their collection of vintage ads. I looked for a few more and hope you enjoy them as much as I did...

Text reads: By the way, Mom, when it comes to toddlers- if they liked to be coaxed to drink their milk, try this: add 7-Up to the milk in equal parts, pouring the 7-Up gently into the milk. It’s a wholesome combination- and it works!

I remember when I was a kid, cartons of cigarettes would routinely come packaged with some sort of Christmas motif, sometimes Santa lighting up enjoying a Marlboro!
I don't think anyone in my family that got smokes for xmas, but I knew people that did.
My ma, used to pin a dollar on my jacket with a note and send me off to the corner grocer to buy her Parliments, I think is what she smoked.

I totally came across several holiday cig ads! I even found one that featured former President Regan happily smoking his way through the holidays! My other fav was an ad for vodka that offered the "chance to win a Russian bride."

The first ad (housewife with pursed lips and ketchup bottle) reminds me of a funny story.

My mom was the Marlboro women before the Marlboro man. She made a commercial where she was writing a letter to her beau in the army, pauses, lights up a cig inhales and seductively exhales while holding and gazing at her beaus picture. We had it transferred to VHS tape long ago...pretty cool.

Mary that is uncanny! And Mr. Richards...do share!

I could really relate to the ad with all of the appliances. Women just flip over electric fry pans.

Sorry, Mel, the punchline is a visual, so it'll have to wait until we see each other.
