Ditching the Chicken Noodle...

Okay, the truth of the matter is I have been sick...really really really sick...for the past four days.
We had to miss out on a really nice New Year's get together with friends and I pretty much laid low...really low... for days. Leif and the kids stayed home and took care excellent care of me; they served up chicken noodle soup like champs!
I FINALLY came around today.
I was grateful for many reasons, but mostly because I kind of felt like Leif and the kids were missing out on some winter break fun.
Since everyone thought I should take it easy today around 10am we decided to take a simple trip downtown to Motion Unlimited to replace Emma's broken pointe shoes.
On the way there I was suddenly starving and as luck would have it we were rolling right past Wishbone in the West Loop. Let me just say a little corn muffin goes a long way on a happy stomach! From there we made our way to the dance store and Emma found her way into a brand new pair of Gaynor Minden pointe shoes.
Despite the frigid temps, we decided to take a walk down State Street. I was feeling fine and we hit the Puma store for Leif and Finn and Urban Outfitters for Emma and me. We meandered through Borders and had a tea at Argo...
And then on a total whim we bought four tickets to...

Banana Shpeel was a fantastic Vaudevillian variety show filled with tap dancing, acrobatics, and some good old fashioned slap stick comedy. We all loved it!
After the show we headed over to South Water Kitchen for a quick dinner before getting those pointe shoes home by 8:30pm. We couldn't have had a better day if we'd planned it!
I have to tell you feeling better never felt so good!
