A boy and his dog

Last night Leif had to work late and the kids and I watched Marley and Me. I can tell you the movie is darling and quite moving, but the photo below is one big reason to avoid this film...
It is true Marley was a very bad dog, but our girl Java is a very good dog; she did in fact graduate at the top of her obedience school class. Okay I have to admit, like Marley,Java is terrified of thunder...and she is allergic to grass, gets car sick, and once ate an entire gingerbread house in a couple of minutes. She even has an affinity for beets and will steal them off any available plate and one spring all of her hair fell out. Oh and she did destroy our former couch, perfected her pitiful face when she was banned from sitting on the furniture and sneaks onto the couch every time we turn our backs, but overall all has been our family's steady, reliable, and loyal companion for nearly eight years.
Watching Marley and Me (although he had read the book) pushed young Finn over the edge. I guess he realized for as long has he remembers living Java has been a part of it. The thought of her leaving his world smacked him pretty hard. He had one of those circle of life moments and cried himself to sleep...not an easy goodnight, but a teachable moment none-the-less.
Excercise caution when viewing this film...

oh no. How sad. I took Cal and TJ to the theater to see it...not a dry eye in the house
