We Are One: Sunday January 18th

While we were picking up our tickets our Administration Rep mentioned she had a few extra tickets to the We Are One opening ceremony at the Lincoln Memorial and asked if we wanted them...umm..yeah.

We made our way to the Lincoln Memorial and passed thousands of people lined up to get into the general viewing areas. I have to admit I felt a bit guilty passing everyone up...but this was our view...

Can you say HOOKED UP! Wow...simply wow. The concert started with Fanfare for the Common Man by Aaron Copland...spirits in the crowd were very high and each person taking ownership of a moment in history.

The performers we all amazing and we were stunned witnessing the stage shared by the likes of Stevie Wonder, Bono, Bruce Springsteen, Garth Brooks, and Beyonce among others...their collective voices belting out America the Beautiful during the finale was unreal! Celebrities offered patriotic readings between songs with a highlight being Tom Hank's rendition of Lincoln's protrait.

Following the concert we walked for two hours in this crowd.

An unforgettable unexpected experienced...and we had not even been to one of our scheduled events yet.

More to come...

Tuesday night I think it was channel 11 they had Obama's biography, it was cool to watch and to familiarize myself with our new President from birth.
